What is the difference between an Opinion, Editorial and Op-Ed?

  • Opinion: is a written view, judgment or appraisal on a particular matter, e.g. on any subject or topic, in the mind of the author.  More simply, it’s one person written viewpoint.
  • Editorial: is an article that gives the opinions of the editors or publishers of a newspaper or magazine; also, an expression of opinion that resembles such an article.
  • Op-Ed’s: Opinions and Editorials are usually combined in one area or section of newspapers, magazines and other publications, and are called Op-Ed sections, or Op-Ed’s.

Your Student Group can Write an Editorial:

In Ideas Del Pueblo, a student, professional or other civic, political or social group, can express their views as a group on any subject in an article format using the submission guidelines, similar to an editorial from editors or publishers of a newspaper or magazine...and have it be published.
