Op-Ed's & Policy Speeches

HCP has created a place for Op-Ed's by Hispanics called Ideas Del Pueblo.

Ideas Del Pueblo

Ideas Del Pueblo is a Hispanic Op-Ed forum, open to all Hispanics.

Latinos of any background can express their opinions on any subject in Ideas del Pueblo. The only requirement is to have Hispanic/Latino heritage or a sincere interest in advancing the Hispanic community.

Hispanic citizens currently make up 15 percent of the United States population and are expected to rise to one-third or one-fourth of the U.S. citizen population by 2050.

Despite the growing importance of Hispanics in the United States, many Latinos have very few opportunities to express their opinions on politics, the economy, society, culture and foreign policy.

In response, The Hispanic Community for Policy launched Ideas Del Pueblo.

In Ideas Del Pueblo, Hispanics can express their opinions, organizations can write editorials and Hispanics and non-Hispanics alike can develop their understanding of the Hispanic community.

Ideas Del Pueblo is now LIVE at:
www.IdeasDelPueblo.com

What is the difference between an Opinion, Editorial and Op-Ed?

  • Opinion: is a written view, judgment or appraisal on a particular matter, e.g. on any subject or topic, in the mind of the author.  More simply, it’s one person written viewpoint.
  • Editorial: is an article that gives the opinions of the editors or publishers of a newspaper or magazine; also, an expression of opinion that resembles such an article.
  • Op-Ed’s: Opinions and Editorials are usually combined in one area or section of newspapers, magazines and other publications, and are called Op-Ed sections, or Op-Ed’s.

In
Ideas Del Pueblo, a student, professional or other civic, political or social group, can express their views as a group on any subject in an article format using the submission guidelines, similar to an editorial from editors or publishers of a newspaper or magazine...and have it be published.
