Hispanic Students & The Hispanic Community

The future of any community is its youth.  The Hispanic community is no exception.

However, the Hispanic community is an exception in that many Hispanic youth are dropping out of College, and worse, High School.

How might that impact the Hispanic community?

Without a College education, much less a High School diploma, young Hispanics are destined to a life of low wages and bleak futures, including all the issues that come with not being able to pay rent, feed a family, pay health care and other bills, and save for retirement, especially when compared to other ethnic groups in the U.S.

This will impact the community as a whole financially, politically, socially and culturally as our families and communities are so closely internally connected while externally we share burdens together as one large and diverse ethnic group within in our national society.

What can be done today?

To begin to change the direction many of our youth and our community as a whole is going, we are better served by helping ourselves, by dealing with the problems we face and by setting our community up for success in the future.

This can be accomplished by committing our community to getting our youth educated. Students can help ready the Hispanic community for success in the future as well – simply by helping yourself and your fellow Latinos on your College or High School campus finish school.

HCP gives Hispanic students opportunities!

HCP is here to help be a part of the community effort to give Hispanic students hope for a bright future, to inspire them to finish High School, to go to college, to get their degree and to have careers of theirs dreams.

HCP offers College and High School students real opportunities to intern, research and write on public policy, lead, organize, plan and develop skills in a positive, team-oriented environment.

By providing young Hispanic Americans in College and in High School something to do that's interesting, creative, collaborative, while also enhancing their skills and resume for better jobs after graduation, HCP believes Hispanic students will want to finish College, finish High School and want to go to College, and see the whole world that’s available to them.
